The Music Box has been at its current location since 2003, but has been in business since 1982. They provide quality instruments at a reasonable price, and pride themselves on excellent service after the sale of an instrument, providing tune-ups and adjustments. The store is involved with the school band and orchestra programs, which enrich the learning environment while teaching valuable skills.

Jim Hayes has worked at the Music Box since 1995 and became the owner in 2000. At an early age he was attracted to the guitar which he picked up seriously in his teens and hasn't put down since. He went on to attain an electronics degree from the University of Montana, and has attended many professional sound system seminars. Hayes also plays in a few blues and rock bands including Joan Zen, and Wang Dang Doodle. Currently working on an album of original material with former members of Wang Dang Doodle. He has been playing all over the Northwest area for the past twenty-five to thirty years, playing country, rock, blues, and everything in between.

The friendly and knowledgeable staff at the Music Box includes Beth Robins, who was a DJ at the local Hamilton radio station for years. Aaron Downing began working for the store just out of high school, and has honed his skills to become an excellent repairperson for brass and woodwind instruments. The staff is comprised of a team of people with diverse backgrounds and interests, whose individual skills contribute to the level of professionalism in the store.
